Life Forms Design

A New Chapter

I have some news.

In September, I will be commencing the two-year Media Design Program at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena.

For a number of years, I’ve dreamt of going back to college to further my skills and experience by studying a masters in design. I have researched and visited a number of courses in the both the UK and US, and it was the MDP that captured my imagination.

You’ll understand then, how excited I was when in April I received a letter of acceptance.

The MDP has an interdisciplinary focus that really appeals to me. The collective experience of the faculty and staff spans the fields of art, graphic design, media theory, architecture, literature and computer science. They champion the act of making/designing as a method of exploring and discovering, whether it be for traditional, ‘new’ or emerging media forms. And, it seems to me, they value interaction with real people over abstract ideas or concepts.

After 5 years of running my own business, I’m looking forward to engaging in wider conversations. Conversations with other thinkers and makers, which will inform my thinking and my making. And ultimately, I hope, create conversations through my work that will enrich those engaging with it.

Next stop, California…
